This one’s personal.
I grew up just a few blocks from where our newest Compass Coffee cafe now stands, right on the corner of 22nd and P Street NW. To be able to bring Compass Coffee home—to open a shop in the neighborhood that raised me—is a full-circle moment.
For me, Dupont has always been one of D.C.’s most dynamic intersections. It’s where embassies, bookstores, brunch spots, think tanks, and tiny triangle parks collide. It’s also where I’ve had some of my most meaningful conversations—walking the Circle with friends, talking life, dreams, politics, and everything in between. It’s a neighborhood built on connection.
And now, we’ve got a Compass right at the heart of it.
A Neighborhood That Never Sits Still
Every time I walk down P Street, I’m reminded how alive Dupont is. On any given morning, you’ll find diplomats and dog walkers, joggers and jazz musicians, students heading to GW or Georgetown, neighbors on their second cold brew. It's got that rare blend of old D.C. charm and forward-looking energy.
On Sundays, the farmers market turns the Circle into a celebration of everything local and fresh—people gathering, catching up, laughing over coffee and eggs and heirloom tomatoes. That’s the spirit we wanted to tap into with this cafe.
This isn’t just another Compass. It’s a love letter to Dupont.
Compass Coffee, 2150 P Street NW
Our team built this space to feel like it belongs here. Big windows, warm wood, natural light—everything designed to reflect the feel of the neighborhood: open, vibrant, welcoming.
And yeah, it’s right by a dog park. That was no accident.
We’re getting ready to start making puppuccinos every morning for our new four-legged regulars. We’ve already met a few—goldens, doodles, bulldogs, mutts—all of them wagging their tails and dragging their humans to the door.
I can’t wait to see this corner become part of the morning walk route, the afternoon pick-me-up, the meet-you-for-a-chat spot. The new “let’s grab a coffee” answer in the group text.
A Cafe Made Possible by the Team—and the Community
Opening this shop wasn’t just a dream—it was a goal. One we’ve been chasing since Compass began over a decade ago in Shaw. It’s only possible because of the passion and precision of our team. From the builders and baristas to our neighborhood partners, everyone poured their energy into getting this right.
And we’ve been listening. Watching the flow of people through this part of the city, seeing what Dupont needs—and what it loves. That’s how we designed the cafe: for how people actually live, move, and caffeinate here.
Come Say Hey
If you’re in the neighborhood—whether you live here, work nearby, or are just visiting—come by. We’ve got cold brew on tap, lattes dialed in, pastries fresh out of the oven, and good vibes in full supply.
Grab a table, bring your dog, or just swing by for a quick espresso. We’re proud to be here, and even prouder to serve the Real Good Coffee that brings people together.
See you at Compass Dupont.
