We opened our doors at 3003 Washington Blvd on a crisp spring morning, and from the very first pour, it felt right.
This marks our 23rd cafe and our 7th location in Virginia, but there’s something about this one that just feels special. Customers streamed in—some eager to grab their go-to order, others ready to try something new. We met runners cooling down with a cold brew, remote workers claiming their new favorite window seat, and longtime locals stopping by just to say, Welcome to the neighborhood.
Clarendon is the cool kid of Northern Virginia. It’s got urban energy, the best shopping, and a top-tier food and drink scene—all in a neighborhood that’s as walkable as it is vibrant. It’s where the suburbs meet the city, and where fitness lovers, foodies, and coffee aficionados all collide.
On a Saturday morning, you’ve got locals hitting up the Clarendon Farmers Market for fresh sourdough and artisanal honey. By night, the scene shifts to legendary dive bars like Clarendon Ballroom or the sleek rooftop at Ambar. And with The Crossing Clarendon just down the street—home to Apple, Crate & Barrel, Williams Sonoma, and more—it’s a shopper’s paradise.
And did we mention the people-watching? Whether it’s a group debating where to grab brunch after yoga or a pup getting chauffeured around in a stroller (yes, that’s a thing here), there’s never a dull moment.
At Compass, we believe in great coffee, but more importantly, we believe in community. Our cafes are built for connection—whether that’s a quick morning pick-me-up, a deep work session, or catching up with a friend over for real good coffee.
I’m incredibly proud of our team and grateful for the warm welcome we’ve already received. We’re here to make your day better, one cup at a time. So, what’s your bet—will Clarendon’s caffeine fiends go for a nitro cold brew or a cherry blossom latte?
We can't wait to see you Clarendon. Your perfect cup is ready.
